Goodwill
The Only Form of Currency
If you’ve been involved in the wealth generation game for long enough, you’ll know that goodwill is the only real form of currency. The more you help other people in a genuine manner, the more that this effect boomerangs back to you, non-linearly. It’s all about how you make other people feel, and how well you understand them1.
This is loosely reflected in the business ideas of ‘generate value for others’ and ‘solve people’s problems’. But that’s not precise enough. If you look closely, the people who are happiest are those who help others without seeking to extract anything from them2.
People are not products. Any money earned from viewing them as such will be poisoned, no more than an empty number. So you can make the mistake, like millions, of becoming an empty millionaire. Which is where goodwill comes in.
What is Goodwill?
One (of many) reasons why I hate governments is because they treat me like a slave, and want to extract from me. Shitty companies (like PayPal and large banks) do too, if they can get away with it.
But that’s changed now, largely due to online reviews and alternative options3. Think Amazon, AirBnB, and TrustPilot. If I’m ever assessing a company, I'd just go to a review site and check that it's above the 4.4/4.5 mark.
It’s the single greatest indicator of your potential experience. These are real people who are giving real feedback on how they were made to feel by a certain company. Low quality companies have always found ways to get around quality assurance and regulations. But they can’t manipulate reviews.
Paradoxically, you can give a terrible service and still get a 5-star rating as long as you treat people like human beings. I remember being on a small island in the Philippines with no AC or power for three days, ruining the entire trip more or less. But the owner was friendly, genuinely apologetic, and it was outside of her control, so there was no point leaving a nasty review.
Integrating Goodwill For Increased Abunance
Goodwill means that you support others and are willing to help them in whatever way you can. It’s what the hospitality industry is supposed to be. Most people jump in far too quickly in terms of financial gain, looking for quick wins. The aim should always be to provide value first.
If you have a writing publication, for instance, you should be looking to l’earn for the first 3 - 9 months at least. Look to comment and collaborate and share with others. The idea is to grow along with your customers, not at their expense4.
You have unique gifts and talents that need to be honed and shared. When you share your talents with others, you get rewarded for it. As Michael Scott would say, you need to go for a ‘win-win-win’.
Money is merely a reflection of how you assisted others in some way. It’s the ‘furthest out’ symbol of your contributions to humanity, which can be major or minor. Regardless of what business you are running, aim to uplift and support others, and don’t look for one to one reflections.
What can often happen is that you help somebody out, and a different person pay back the goodwill to you. If you approach it logically, you’ll get confused.
When you start consciously integrating goodwill, not only will you earn more money, but you’ll actually feel a lot better physically, mentally, and emotionally too.

It’s not about being correct or even providing solutions. Intelligent people are typically detested and hated by wider society, and have to dumb themselves down for acceptability.
Equally important is to charge for your products, of course, but that’s to be discussed another time.
Wise and Revolut offer much better customer service and you won’t be waiting on the wrong end of a phone for an hour because it’s not economically viable.
This takes courage. It’s easy to nod along to advice like this, but it takes a lot of presence to look at what works and change your ideology based on what people are responding to.

This was an interesting read. I think the law of karma also works in this way. Saturn, the ruler of karmic rewards is slow but steady and sure. Anyway, that's a separate discussion.
LOVED the reference to Micheal G. Scott ❤️
